The history of Our Lady of Krumauer is closely tied to the Krumauer Madonna, a Gothic sculpture created around 1390–1400 in Bohemia by an unknown master. This statue, depicting the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, is considered a masterpiece of late Gothic art and is now housed in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. It was discovered in 1910 in a private house in Český Krumlov (historically Krumau), which led to its name.
