This devotional holy oil and prayer card are Third Class Relics. They were touched to bones of Saint Charbel (Sharbel) Makhlouf.

The bottles contain 0.5 oz / 15 ml of pure olive oil scented with frankincense.

About Relics: From the earliest days of Christianity, relics have been venerated by the faithful. This included items associated with Jesus as well as bones, clothing, and others items left behind by martyrs and holy men and women of the faith. We are reminded of the beautiful passage in the Gospels of the miracle of the bleeding woman who was healed by the touching of Jesus’ cloak and her faith, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed” (Matthew 9:21).

How to Use: Devotional oils have a long history of being used as sacramentals to aid in our prayers. They can be used the same way one would use Holy Water. Some have used these as healing balms or will anoint themselves or their dwellings when praying for protection against evil. While these oils are useful in helping focus one’s devotion, we should always remember that is our faith and God’s grace which accomplish any healing or protection.

How to Dispose: (1) Burn them respectfully, then bury the ashes. (2) If burning is not suitable: Place the relic in a small cloth or paper wrapping before disposing. ** Do not throw it in the trash. Do not sell it. Do not treat it as ordinary waste. Even though it is not a bodily relic, it is still a sacramental.
